From the first monitor, Yan Deyi, a famous "welding king" in China, to the second monitor, Guo Weilin, a national model worker who is fearless in tackling difficulties, and then to the current monitor who leads the team to build a modern characteristic team, the winner of the National May 1 Labor Medal, and the model worker in Liaoning Province, they have followed the footsteps of the new China, cherished the ideal of serving the country by air, and indirectly inherited the spirit of model workers in the new and old generations of model workers, leaving an eternal footprint of the strugglers.
In the autumn of 1963, Guo Weilin graduated from the technical school and followed Master Yan Deyi’s apprentice. At that time, the factory was very simple. In the winter in the northeast, everyone could see his breath, his hands were too cold to weld, and he just ate pickles after working overtime, but the hard working environment could not affect the work enthusiasm of the workers’ masters at all. Guo Weilin said: "At that time, my master Yan Deyi’s spirit of hard work, selfless dedication and innovation deeply infected me, and made me determined to be a dedicated and outstanding person who can contribute to the aviation industry."
Practice unique skills and fill in the blanks
According to Guo Weilin, his master Yan Deyi won the honorary titles of "Shenyang Model Worker" for three times, "Liaoning Model Worker" for four times and "National Model Worker" for one time. In the early 1950s, when the factory trial-produced the turbojet 5 engine, it was necessary to weld the flame tube with cemented carbide blocks on the boss at the tail of the parts. According to the requirements of Soviet experts at that time, two layers of surfacing welding were necessary to make the thickness of cemented carbide block reach 6 mm. He boldly carried out the improvement and successfully adopted a layer of surfacing welding, which saved a lot of money for the country on the premise of ensuring quality. Yan Deyi, based on his post, took the lead in studying technology, and practiced a famous skill, which solved many problems in welding special materials of aero-engines for the factory and filled many domestic gaps.
Yan Deyi assiduously studied welding technology with a high sense of ownership. He participated in the trial production and mass production of J-5, J-6 and J-7 aircraft engines. In 1971, he tackled the problem with illness, and with the cooperation of engineers and technicians, the life of turbojet 6 engine was extended. In 1979, Yan Deyi boldly put forward the idea of welding in the atmosphere during the trial production of a new domestic fighter engine. After hundreds of experiments, he successfully welded titanium alloy directly in the atmosphere with his new technology, which wrote a wonderful page in the history of welding technology in China. In 1982, Yan Deyi made progress despite difficulties in the trial production of the new machine. In order to solve the welding problem of ring parts, he made technical improvements to ensure the technical requirements.
The master’s words and deeds have benefited Guo Weilin a lot, and the spirit of model workers has been further passed down.

Guo Weilin’s apprentice Zhang Shuwen joined the work in 1986. Under the influence of two generations of model workers, Yan Deyi and Guo Weilin, Zhang Shuwen carried the banner of model worker team and devoted himself to the construction of modern characteristic team. He led the team members to successively introduce brand systems such as shift leader system, mutual inspection system against standard parts, new person system training system and expert forum system, and formed a team management mode with the characteristics of "high precision and harmony" and "Guo Weilin class". Under the leadership of three generations of model workers, "Guo Weilin Class" has successively won the honorary titles of "National May 1st Labor Award" and "National Worker Pioneer".
